Academic Visit | Welcome Distinguished Delegation from Naresuan University
From October 27 to 30, the College of Science at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and the Taiwan-Thailand Science and Technology Center (TTSTC) jointly welcomed a high-level administrative and academic delegation from Naresuan University (NU), Thailand. Led by Dr. Phisut Apichayakul, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, the 5-member delegation included key academic leaders such as the Dean of the Faculty of Science, the Heads of the Departments of Mathematics and Chemistry, and the Head of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology. The four-day academic visit and collaborative discussions yielded highly fruitful outcomes.

Upon their arrival, the NU delegation was warmly received by the NCKU host team. The two institutions held an official Welcome Remarks & Introductions session at the College of Science Building. The opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Chin-Chun Tsai, Dean of the College of Science at NCKU, who cordially welcomed the delegation and highlighted the close partnership built since ICNS 2026. Professor Fong-Chin Su, Chair Professor and the Executive Director of TTSTC, followed with an address emphasizing the vision for technological innovation and cross-border research links between Taiwan and Thailand. Dr. Phisut Apichayakul then expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of NU, reaffirming the enduring friendship between the two universities.

During the briefing session, Prof. Chin-Chun Tsai presented an in-depth overview of NCKU College of Science's academic capacity, research strengths, and internationalization achievements. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uthai Wichai, Dean of the Faculty of Science at NU, subsequently introduced the profile and research focuses of Naresuan University and its Faculty of Science. Department heads from both sides engaged in enthusiastic discussions covering mathematics, physics, chemistry, photonics, and plasma science, laying a solid foundation for future joint initiatives.

To provide the delegation with a comprehensive look at NCKU's cutting-edge research capabilities, the College of Science arranged site visits to three premier campus research and educational facilities on the afternoon of October 28:
- Center for Science Education: The delegation explored the base for science popularization and interdisciplinary scientific exhibitions, highly praising NCKU's innovative approach to integrating advanced scientific concepts into educational tools.
- Core Facility Center: The delegation toured high-end research and analytical instruments, including Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometers, and exchanged insights on cross-border sample analysis and large-scale instrument-sharing mechanisms.
- Medical Device Innovation Center (MDIC): Guided personally by Chair Professor Fong-Chin Su, the delegation learned about recent advances in biomedical engineering, smart sensing, and clinical medical devices, paving the way for future biomedical collaborations between the two institutions.

Following their fruitful stay in Tainan, the NU delegation visited the College of Science at National Changhua University of Education (NCUE) and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) on October 29 and 30, successfully concluding their dynamic four-day visit to Taiwan. This visit has significantly reinforced the sister-school ties between NCKU and Naresuan University and established a robust platform for substantive future collaboration in the physical sciences and cross-disciplinary engineering.
