Invited by the Taiwan-Thailand Science and Technology Center (TTSTC), a distinguished delegation from the Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University (CU), Thailand, conducted a four-day academic and technological exchange visit to Taiwan from July 1 to July 4, 2026. The visit aimed to deepen bilateral ties in cutting-edge research, semiconductor technology, biomedical engineering, and higher education innovation. 

The Chulalongkorn Engineering delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, and Mr. Phuwadech Doungmanee, Head of the Office of International Affairs. 

 

During their visit to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan on July 2, 2026, the delegation met with university leadership and explored key research centers and academic units to discuss strategic academic partnerships and joint research initiatives: 

• University Leadership & Medical Devices Innovation Center (MDIC): The delegation engaged with NCKU Vice President Chair Prof. Yung-Chun Lee and Chair Prof. Fong-Chin Su, Director of MDIC, exploring opportunities and collaborations. 

• Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE): Met with Department Chair Prof. Shyh-Hau Wang and visited the Biomedical Ultrasound System Lab. 

• College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS): Hosted by Dean Prof. S. Felix Wu and Vice Department Chair Prof. Chin-Lung Yang, focusing on academic exchanges and joint talent development in EECS fields. 

• Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing (AISSM): Welcomed by Associate Dean Prof. Yu-Lung Lo and program directors in IC Design and Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology to explore technical collaboration in semiconductor education and research. 


• College of Engineering: Held technical exchange discussions hosted by Dean Prof. Chyan-Deng Jan, Vice Dean Prof. Yu-Long Lo, and departmental faculty. 

• Advanced Research Laboratories: Toured the Digital Health and Biorobotics Lab (Prof. Yi-Chun Du) and the Motion Analysis Lab (Chair Prof. Fong-Chin Su) to observe cutting-edge practical applications. 

 

Following the activities in Tainan, the distinguished delegation visited UAiTED to foster broader institutional connections in Taipei on July 3, 2026. 

• National Taiwan University (NTU): Met with Prof. Louis Ge (Associate Dean, College of Engineering), Prof. Chung-Hsien Kuo (Associate Chair, Department of Mechanical Engineering), Prof. Kuei-Yuan Chan, and Prof. I-Hsuan Hong to discuss institutional partnerships and academic exchanges. 

• National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST): Hosted by Prof. Ming-Jyh Chern (Dean, College of Engineering) and Prof. Ying-Jung Yeh (Vice President for International Affairs) along with the international relations team to explore future educational and research cooperation. 

• Sayling Wen Cultural & Educational Foundation: Visited the foundation to discuss educational leadership, talent incubation, and cross-border innovation networks. 

 

This landmark visit successfully reinforced the academic alliance between Thailand's premier engineering institution and Taiwan's top research universities, laying a robust foundation for future joint research projects, student exchanges, and technology transfer initiatives.
