Academic visit │ Suranaree University of Technology Delegation Visits NCKU to Deepen Collaboration in Medicine and Biomedical Engineering

On June 5, 2025, a delegation from Thailand's Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), led by Rector Associate Professor Dr. Anan Tongraar, visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan as part of an initiative supported by Taiwan's Ministry of Education. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for deeper academic-industry collaboration, particularly in the medical and technological innovation sectors.

This visit follows the recent outreach by the Taiwan–Thailand Science and Technology Center (TTSTC), which in May 2024 conducted an exchange with SUT in Nakhon Ratchasima, northeastern Thailand. The May engagement marked the beginning of ongoing dialogue between TTSTC and emerging innovation teams at SUT, with both sides actively exploring future cooperation in research and industrial applications. Two startups representative of MDIC also introduce their output and share insights into their innovative solutions and development process.

During their visit to NCKU, the SUT delegation engaged in productive discussions with Professor Fong-Chin Su, Director of both TTSTC and the Medical Device Innovation Center (MDIC). The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between TTSTC and SUT, symbolizing a commitment to sustained collaboration across academia, research, and industry.

The delegation also toured the Bioimaging Core Facility led by Prof. Wen-Tai Chiu, Faculty of Medicine and the MDIC, gaining insight into Taiwan’s leading medical technology research and development environment.
This visit reflects the growing partnership between Taiwan and Thailand in science, technology, and higher education, paving the way for impactful cross-border collaborations in innovation and applied research.
