Webinar | Translational Research: from basic science to clinical Practice

On December 11, the webinar titled “Translational Research: From Basic Science to Clinical Practice,” co-hosted by Taiwan and Thailand, successfully concluded. This event brought together three esteemed experts from both countries to explore the translation and implementation of innovative medical technologies. The webinar was moderated by Professor Waranun Buajeeb.

The session commenced with an insightful presentation by Assoc. Prof. Che-Wei Lin from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). He highlighted his research concerning the translation of innovation into practice, specifically the FDA-certified NCKU Virtual Reality Medical Therapy (VRMT) designed for stroke upper limb rehabilitation. This case exemplified the effective transition of fundamental research into a clinical application.

Following this, Assoc. Prof. Jackrit Suthakorn from Mahidol University in Thailand presented his work on Endonasal Endoscopic Transsphenoidal Surgical Robotics Translational Research (EETS). He emphasized a surgical robot prototype alongside a clinical practice study, underscoring the significant potential of medical robotics.

Lastly, Prof. Ping-Ching Wu from NCKU addressed the critical topic of nanomedicine technologies. He provided a comprehensive analysis of how nanotechnology can enhance disease treatment methodologies.

The event attracted 118 participants from 12 countries, including Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, thereby reflecting the dynamic potential for medical innovation exchange within Asia. This webinar not only facilitated academic collaboration but also established a foundation for future advancements in translational medical research.
