On the 21st, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) hosted a ceremony to inaugurate the "Academy of Innovative Semiconductor Manufacturing" (KAISEM) at its campus. This academy is a collaborative venture involving KMITL, Taiwan's National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), and Chang Gung University (C.G.U.), aimed at advancing semiconductor technology and manufacturing to address the shortage of skilled technical personnel in Thailand.
Notable attendees at the ceremony included representatives from the Economic Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, as well as delegates from Delta Electronics, AT&S (Zhen Ding Tech Group), and Tripod Technology Corporation.
During the visit to National Cheng Kung University and Chang Gung University in July of this year, KMITL President Dr. Komsan Maleesee expressed that the collaboration with Taiwan represents a significant stride in KMITL's dedication to nurturing world-class graduates.
The establishment of KAISEM represents a strategic initiative by KMITL to position itself as a premier center for semiconductor education and research in the region. By harnessing resources from the College of Smart Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing at National Cheng Kung University and the Semiconductor Laboratory at Chang Gung University, KAISEM will provide a comprehensive curriculum encompassing all facets of semiconductor technology, including materials science, device physics, manufacturing processes, and sustainable practices. Students are set to benefit from hands-on experience, industry internships, and research opportunities, thereby equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge for prosperous careers in the semiconductor industry.
